Problems creating weighed items using EAN13 bar codes

Good evening,

I am trying to setup weighted items in inventory and am having some issues. When a sample is scanned the cashier is prompted for the weight. the bar code printed by the electronic scale contains the department (product) ID of the item and the total price of the item. Is there any assistance that can be provided to help me get the item and total on the POS without the weight prompt being displayed? An example of a scanned bar code is 2003700118806, the weight is 1.98lbs, the price is 60.00 and the total is 118.80. The item lookup code is 2003700000000. When scanned at POS we are prompted for the weight. Is there something I am doing wrong here? Please assist.


New Payment Service

I am a customer taking over for someone so I am learning RMS.

I need to know how can I use the Customer Source portal to see current payment services and methods?

I have asked our Partner to add a second payment service which my processor requested.  Will I receive an email when the partner has added the new payment service, which I then act upon and Activate to get the definition built-up?

Hi folks,

I am running RMS 2 CU5 Hotfix 40 (latest version) and I wonder if there is an option to archive HQ data to another database for future reporting/analysis/auditing.

Or, if you are already using data warehouse software for RMS, please share which solution you are using.

Please advise.

IN STORES THE FRONT END BACKUP IS NOT HAPPENING,SO EVERYDAY AM TAKING DATABASE BACKUP AND THE BACKUP FILE SIZE IS INCREASING EVERYDAY.WHEN AM TRYING TO DO FORNT END BACKUP ITS SHOWS THE ERROR "Backup failed on --PC".WHAT WILL BE THE PROBLEM??

Purchase Order Error and Inventory Transfer Error

Hi guys,

I am getting two errors on two different sites

The first error appears when a purchase order is been created. I did try to find an item with a an incorrect itemlookup code but I cant find one to match the error. The error does seem to appear when a particular item is added to the PO. Would the best course of action be to delete the item and recreate it?

The inventory transfer error is occurs when doing an inter store transfer the manager was scanning in the items there was about 20 to 30 items on the transfer and scanned a item and the below message came up on the screen and lost the whole transfer . The mentioned item is scanning on the till so the manager started a new transfer and tried it again and the same message came up , would the best option be to delete this item and recreate it as above?

I have been given rather conflicting answers by everybody I have asked this question to including Microsoft.  What is the OFFICIAL statement of direction for this retail POS solution?  Does anybody have the OFFICIAL answer?


Hiding Discontinued Matrix Item Entries from "Active" screen

Hi 

I am new to RMS and currently in the early stages of its implementation to our business however when dealing with Items and what shows on Lookup screens I can't seem to find a way to "Hide" the Matrix Entry of Items which have been discontinued? On the Lookup Screen is has Active on the Matrix line so this would suggest you can make it Inactive. I am able to "Hide" the individual items so they don't show at a POS level but the overall Matrix Entry seems to always remain and over time this will crowd the lookup screen with entries that aren't relevant and could then lead to selection errors by staff.

Dynamics integration with Quickbooks

Hi, I may have stumbled across an opportunity today while making a purchase at a plant nursery. The owner of the business was handling the transaction for me and we struck up a conversation about Microsoft Dynamics. He was explaining to me that they have to double enter everything into Quickbooks because the two applications do not talk to one another. I was a little dubious and he let me look at a little bit of how his business is setup.
Current configuration:
Dynamics 2007 (splash screen showed Dynamics Store Operations Manager 2.0.0155)
Quickbooks pro 2012
I do not have a lot of Dynamics experience but have worked a lot with QB and some 3rd party connectors. What will it take to get the two applications connected so that they can eliminate the double entering? It feels like at the very least, Dynamics will need to be upgraded to a more current version. But is that all? Or will there be a 3rd party connector needed?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Line Display isn't working in Retail POS for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2

Microsoft Dynamics Retail POS.

We are planning to use Customer Display (Gigatek DSP840). *USB Version*

I have installed the Prolific USB to serial driver successfully, after installation the COM Port 5 was assigned to the Line Display. Now in AX-> Retail> HardwareProfile->LineDisplay  Select Display to Windows driver and Display Device name as DSP840 . I start POS with no error & nothing displayed on Line Display, I also tried to select OPOS driver, When I start the POS i get following error An error occurred and retail POS could not find the line Display. You can try to fix the problem, and then click retry. Or click Cancel to start the Retail POS without the Line Display. 

 

Note: The line display DSP840 is working fine on his own connection checking tool DSP840 Utility. I can send text to line display with no error. Please help

I need your help.

This is what i did.

1. I checked static ip pos system computer in my store. ex) 11.22.33.44

2. I checked internal ip pos system computer in my store. ex) 192.168.1.5

3. I set up port forwarding in router connected to pos system.

    port number : 34202     forwarding 192.168.1.5

4. I turned off fire wall in pos system.

5. finally, I tried to access my store pos system from my home.

    after I set up "server name" as a static ip(11.22.33.44) in store operation administrator configuration.

but i cannot access from my home through store operation.

What is the problem? please let me know.  thank you..

Discount Reason Code Required

A client has the Discount Reason Code option checked so that a reason code is required when a sales associate applies a discount to a transaction.  However, I am noticing that transactions are being conducted with a discount applied, and the TransactionEntry.DiscountReasonCodeID = 0, and the receipt just says discount, and does not specify the reason code.  I tested at the POS that a reason code is required before applying a discount and it works, but when I check the database the TransactionEntry.DiscountReasonCodeID = 0.   I am not sure why this is happening.  Has anyone else experienced this situation?

Receipts by email

Hi,

We are considering our options for offering receipts to customers by email and would be interested to know peoples experiences.

I am interested not only in the customer reaction/uptake but also of the technical issues involved. 

We are based in Ireland and I feel using an outside service to hold customer data and process the receipts would not be allowed so we would be restricted to using our own email system or just a standard email gateway.

Zebra 2824 Plus & Printing all black labels

Here's an odd one for you guys ...

Attempting to print all black labels (to cover up spots on the shelf where old tags were left and will not come off cleanly) and it works, but the printer will shut off after 16 labels.  To turn the printer back on, the plug has to be pulled from the wall and then plugged back in ... unplugging power from the printer doesn't do it, only unplugging the 'power block' does.

 

Any ideas?  Or am I asking the printer to do something it wasn't meant to?

How can I print out customer addresses for mailing marketing?

Is there a way to list the addresses from the customer database and create a list that can be printed out on standard print sheet labels for marketing purposes? Or is there any add-in that enhances such a functionality that might even include address verification?
